My Journey at Prime College: More Than Just a Degree

Introduction

Choosing the right college was an important decision for me. I wanted a place where I could grow academically while also developing myself as a person. Since I was interested in both technology and business, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Information Management (BIM) felt like the perfect choice because it combines IT and management, giving students the flexibility to explore opportunities in both fields.

When I was looking for a college, many of my friends, seniors, and family members recommended Prime College. I also came across the college’s social media pages and noticed how active the student clubs were. What caught my attention wasn’t just the academics. It was the way students were encouraged to participate, organise events, and build themselves beyond the classroom. As someone who enjoys exploring different hobbies and believes college should be about more than just studying, Prime College felt like the right place for me.

Why I Chose Prime College

Apart from its reputation and convenient location, what attracted me most to Prime College was its focus on overall student development. I wanted to study in an environment where I could learn, grow, and challenge myself in different ways.

Looking back after reaching my sixth semester, I can honestly say that my experience has matched and even exceeded my expectations. The environment at Prime has been one of the best parts of my journey. The teachers, staff, seniors, and friends have always been approachable and supportive, making the college feel welcoming from the very beginning.

One thing I appreciate about Prime is that students are encouraged to discover their strengths instead of staying within their comfort zones. That supportive environment has helped me become much more confident than I was when I first joined.

My Learning Experience

My learning experience at Prime College has been both enjoyable and practical. The teaching approach goes beyond textbooks through presentations, group projects, assignments, discussions, and practical learning activities that make classes more interactive.

Being a BIM student has allowed me to gain knowledge in both technology and management, helping me understand different aspects of the professional world.

What I appreciate most is that learning at Prime isn’t limited to academics. The college regularly organises workshops, seminars, mentorship programmes, and training sessions that prepare students for life after graduation. I particularly enjoyed the mentorship sessions because they focused on developing the skills and mindset needed for the future rather than only academic knowledge. I also attended sessions on building a professional LinkedIn profile, career preparation, and even a recycling workshop, which gave me a different perspective on sustainability. These experiences reminded me that education is about becoming a capable individual, not just earning good grades.

The faculty members have always been friendly, approachable, and willing to help whenever students need guidance. Their support has made learning comfortable and enjoyable throughout my time at Prime.

College Life

Without a doubt, the best part of my college life has been my journey with Prime Flair Club

Initially, I was simply a general member. However, even as a general member, I was trusted with a major responsibility during one of Prime Flair Club’s biggest events, Prime Carnival. That trust meant a lot to me because it made me realise that the college values dedication and potential more than titles.

Later, I officially became part of the club and had the opportunity to serve as the Marketing Officer. Looking back, this role changed me in ways I never expected. Before, I lacked the confidence to create content or post my work online. Through managing marketing campaigns, creating promotional content, and working alongside my seniors and teammates, I gradually became much more confident and comfortable expressing myself.

One of my proudest achievements at Prime College was serving as the Chair of the Graduation Committee. Leading such a large-scale event for the first time was both exciting and nerve-wracking. It taught me how to communicate effectively, coordinate with different teams, take responsibility, solve problems under pressure, and lead people with confidence. Although the process was hectic, seeing the event conclude successfully made every challenge worthwhile. It remains one of my most memorable achievements.

I also had the opportunity to lead another event, Ink and Imagination Vol. II, through Prime Flair Club, which gave me another chance to strengthen my leadership and organisational skills.

One experience that pushed me even further outside my comfort zone was hosting Sukul Sessions Vol. III as the Master of Ceremonies. It was my first time hosting an event, and although I was nervous, the experience made me proud of how much I had grown.

Prime Flair Club also allowed me to give back by conducting workshops. I taught a three-day Semi-Classical Dance Workshop and also gave a three-day Charcoal Art Workshop as one of the mentors of the event रंग: Beyond The Canvas. Watching participants improve day by day and seeing their excitement while learning was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had.

Apart from club activities, I’ve actively participated in Sports Week, cultural programmes, workshops, exhibitions, and many other college events. Some of my favourite memories are the countless dance practice sessions for Welcome and Farewell programmes. Those rehearsals weren’t just about preparing performances. They were filled with laughter, teamwork, and friendships that I’ll always remember.

Another unforgettable experience was getting the opportunity to paint part of the college floor with my friends. As someone who loves art, it was something I had never imagined doing. Seeing everyone appreciate our work made the experience even more special. I also had the opportunity to exhibit my artwork at college exhibitions, which encouraged me to continue pursuing my passion.

I’m also passionate about baking and run a small home-based bakery called Sia Bakes. During one of Prime Flair Club’s events, I set up a stall to sell my baked goods. To my surprise, almost everything sold out very quickly. That experience gave me the confidence to believe in my small business and motivated me to continue growing it.

Most importantly, Prime gave me friends who have supported me from the beginning of my college journey. We’ve learned together, grown together, and created memories that I’ll always treasure. Prime Flair Club eventually became more than just a club. It became a second family.

Skills I’ve Developed

When I first joined Prime College, I never imagined how much I would change over the years.

Through academics, student clubs, organising events, hosting programmes, teaching workshops, and leading committees, I have developed communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, event management, social media marketing, and time management skills. More than anything else, I gained confidence.

The person who was once afraid of speaking in front of people eventually became someone who could host events, lead committees, teach workshops, and manage marketing campaigns. That transformation is something I will always be grateful for.

Career Preparation

Prime College has also helped me prepare for my professional career.

During my internship at the college, I had the opportunity to assist prospective students and their families. I worked alongside the counsellors and reception team, welcomed visitors, guided them around the campus, and shared my own experience as a Prime student. It was a meaningful experience because I could genuinely explain why I enjoyed studying at Prime while helping new students feel comfortable during their visit.

I also had the opportunity to participate in industry visits, including a visit to Fuse Machines, which gave me practical exposure and helped me understand how industries operate beyond the classroom.

Overall, Prime has helped me develop both professionally and personally. I feel much more prepared for the workplace because the college has equipped me with not only academic knowledge but also practical skills, confidence, and real-world experience.

Why I Recommend Prime College

What makes Prime College different is that it genuinely trusts its students.

Many of the college events are planned and organised by students themselves. From finding sponsors and managing marketing to coordinating teams, solving problems, and executing events, students are given real responsibilities with guidance from the college. These opportunities teach lessons that simply cannot be learned from textbooks.

I would recommend Prime College to any student who wants more than just a degree. If you’re willing to participate actively, step outside your comfort zone, and make the most of every opportunity, Prime will help you discover strengths you never knew you had.

Conclusion

As I look back on my journey at Prime College, I realise that it has shaped me in ways I never expected. It has not only strengthened my academic foundation but has also helped me grow into a more confident, responsible, and capable person.

One thing Prime taught me is that academics and extracurricular activities can go hand in hand. There’s a common belief that being actively involved in clubs and events negatively affects academic performance, but my experience has been the opposite. Throughout my time at Prime, I’ve actively participated in numerous events while continuing to perform well academically. With good time management and dedication, it is possible to balance both successfully.

If I could give one piece of advice to future Prime students, it would be this: don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Join a club, participate in events, volunteer for responsibilities, and say yes to new opportunities. Those experiences will teach you lessons that go far beyond the classroom and will become some of the best memories of your college life.

For me, Prime College has been much more than a place to earn a degree. It has been a place where I discovered my potential, built lifelong friendships, and became the person I am today.
