Gorkha, the birthplace of King Prithvi Narayan Shah and the foundation of Nepal’s unification, holds immense historical significance. As part of the Nepalese History and Politics course, the BBA 2078 batch from Prime College recently embarked on an enriching educational tour to Gorkha, immersing themselves in the nation’s rich heritage.
The Adventure Begins: Road Trip to Gorkha
Our Gorkha Durbar tour commenced with a bus full of enthusiastic students and faculty, ready to explore the historical heart of Nepal. The scenic road trip itself was an adventure, filled with lively conversations and laughter as we traversed the beautiful Nepali landscape. A well-deserved lunch break along the way provided a taste of local flavors before we continued our journey.
Aina Pahar Waterfall: Nature’s Tranquility
Our first stop was the serene Aina Pahar Waterfall, a natural wonder nestled in the hills of Gorkha. The cascading water created a mesmerizing spectacle, offering a perfect opportunity for students to connect with nature and capture the beauty of the surroundings. Students enjoyed the serene environment, capturing photos and taking in the peaceful surroundings.

Delving into the Past: Gorkha Museum
The Gorkha Museum offered a fascinating glimpse into Nepal’s past. We explored ancient artifacts, historical documents, traditional weapons, and personal belongings of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, gaining a deeper understanding of the events that shaped modern Nepal. The interactive session with museum staff was a highlight, allowing students to ask questions and engage in insightful discussions about Nepalese history. This hands-on learning experience brought the stories of the past to life.
Sunrise at Gorkha Durbar: A Moment of Inspiration
The next morning, we ascended to the majestic Gorkha Durbar, a historically and architecturally significant palace perched atop a hill. The panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys at sunrise was simply breathtaking. Standing where King Prithvi Narayan Shah envisioned a unified Nepal was a truly inspiring experience, connecting us to the very roots of our nation. The intricate wood carvings, the ancient structures, and the historical significance of this palace made it one of the most memorable parts of our trip.
Lig Lig Kot: Echoes of History
Our final destination was Lig Lig Kot, a landmark of immense historical importance. This site, pivotal in shaping Nepalese history, offered another layer of understanding to our journey. The stunning landscapes combined with the historical significance of Lig Lig Kot created a powerful and memorable conclusion to our tour.

A Journey Through Time: Learning Beyond the Classroom
This educational tour to Gorkha was more than just a field trip; it was a profound immersion into Nepal’s history, culture, and heritage. From the natural beauty of Aina Pahar to the historical insights gained at the Gorkha Museum, Gorkha Durbar, and Lig Lig Kot, every moment was enriching.
