Prime College and NREN: Enhancing Connectivity with Eduroam

Prime College is pleased to remind students and staff about our ongoing partnership with the Nepal Research and Education Network (NREN) to provide Eduroam services. This collaboration continues to enhance connectivity and the learning experience at Prime College.

What is Eduroam?

Eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, worldwide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. It offers simple, secure connectivity from thousands of hotspots across more than 100 countries, allowing seamless internet access at Eduroam-enabled institutions.

Eduroam Implementation at Prime College

The introduction of Eduroam in Nepal, led by NREN and supported by AARNET and the Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN), connected seven Asia-Pacific countries. The project included:

1. Training Workshop: NREN engineers received comprehensive training.
2. Local Training: NREN trained member institutions in Kathmandu.
3. Deployment: NREN engineers set up access points and launched Eduroam services in selected hospitals and colleges, primarily in Kathmandu.

As the National Roaming Operator (NRO) for Nepal, NREN continues to help institutions deploy Eduroam services.

Connecting to Eduroam

1. Open WiFi settings on your device and select Eduroam.
2. Select “Don’t validate” for the CA Certificate.
3. Enter your Prime College email ID and password to connect.
